Registration approval

I registered for this site a few days ago, got an email acknowledging my request telling me I need to wait for admin to add me to site.  Have had no correspondence since and I still cannot log in.  Anyone have any thoughts/info on the site's status or how to proceed?
What's even funnier is that I can't even add this post with my chosen username - it says the name is already taken.....hahah, yea, by me.... :D
